The risk of progression to allergic asthma increases with the duration of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. In children, AIT is therefore also indicated for mild symptoms. Extracts for sublingual or subcutaneous AIT are available. Both forms are effective and have their individual advantages and disadvantages. To achieve a long-term effect, at least 3 years of AIT is recommended.
