Asthma is a common chronic disease in children and adolescents. But achieving consistent symptom control can be challenging. Single Inhaler Maintenance and Reliever Therapy (SMART) has emerged as a newer treatment strategy that combines inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) with formoterol in a single inhaler used for both daily maintenance and symptom relief. This presentation will provide an overview of the current evidence for SMART therapy in pediatric asthma with reference to the Swiss and international asthma guidelines.
